Pink Cut Out Flowers

It's week 4 of the month so the challenge at Less Is More is a sketch...

The only restraint was this:

It's simplicity itself, so to add a little constraint, we ask that the card stays in this orientation.

Also at CAS-ual  Fridays the Birthday Bash challenge continues for a second week therefore this will be my second entry. And finally, for colour inspiration, I've entered the challenge at Glitter n Sparkle - white plus one other colour (pink).

Quick Decoupage

Just a quick card tonight. I'm trying to use some of the boxes and boxes of  crafty 'stuff'' I have gathered over the years. During my craft room spring clean I found a box of ready made die cut decoupage flowers I put together one Sunday afternoon years ago - this card was made earlier in a few minutes using one of the flowers...

I added a frame and a sentiment and there's another card for my box!

I've entered this into the challenges at:

Let's Craft and Create - Flowers
Celebrate The Occasion - Clean and simple

Father's Day Football

Continuing with yesterday's technique for the CASE challenge at Less Is More, I made a second card, this time with a masculine theme. My inspiration came from this week's Dynamic Duos colour challenge:

I knew I had a digi of a football with the coloured sections fading from black to gray which was perfect for these colours. This time I was a lot more careful when I die cut the letters from the second image so I should be able to do another card from the negative.

I've also entered this as a second entry in this week's challenge at Casology:

New Technique

A great challenge at Less Is More this week... to CASE either Chrissie's card or Jen's card.

I chose Chrissie's, featuring a new technique I have seen popping up everywhere in blogland :

My dilemma was what to use as a subject/word. Problem solved by this week's challenge at Addicted to CAS:

So I trawled my files for a suitable digi and came up with this effort:

It was much easier to make than I thought - I think the greatest difficulty was taking a photo.

Off to the footy now- see if we can build on last week's triumph over Newcastle !

3 Challenge CAS

Today's card should have actually been posted yesterday but I forgot to take a pic, then it got too dark, then I had a glass of wine etc etc...

The colour combo at Play Date Cafe this week caught my eye straight away:

Lovely fresh colours!

I combined this with the sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch:

And also this week's challenge at CASual Fridays:

I printed the snippet of yellow striped digi paper directly onto the base card then added the pink butterflies and gems. The dots were added as a bit of an afterthought because I didn't think the sentiment was enough for the gray colour but I think they add balance:

Back to the housework now! It's a lovely day here in Sunderland - bright and sunny with a warm breeze - ideal for sheets and duvet covers!

Catch you later

Dad...

Today's cue word challenge at CASology is:

which prompted me to make a Father's Day card for my card box using one of my favourite techniques - giant letters cut from patterned paper.

Clean, simple and made in no time while I was watching the news.

My thoughts go out to the city and people of Boston and the friends and families of those injured and killed in yesterday's tragedy - insane senseless actions,

Take care

Ruby Slippers

It's one layer week at Less Is More and the theme this week is:

A FILM

Any film will do, but preferably one that most people will have heard of.

We'd obviously like you to tell us the title of your film and not keep us guessing.

Well my favourite film of all time is Apocalypse Now so that was a total non starter! I think  what's been in the news this week about a song from this film getting to No 1 in the charts was in my psyche when I thought of making this card... and the fact I just love shoes!

The image was found by googling 'shoes colouring pages' and the shoes are obviously Louboutin (red soles dahling!). I've coloured it with pro markers and added a touch of glitter on the bows. The quote is from Marilyn Monroe and so apt.

Oops - incase you're in any doubt the film is of course The Wizard of Oz.

I've also entered this into this week's challenge at Allsorts - the theme is the letter of your name - 'S' is for Sharon and for shoes!

Enjoy your weekend

CAS Sketch

There's a fabulous CAS sketch at  CAS - Colours and Sketches Challenge today:

Just the sort of sketch I like - no strange bits on it! As I'm still playing about with digi backgrounds I used the good old polka dots again but this time in pink:

The flower is a digi from my favourite haunt - the Digistamp Boutique, coloured with the palest of promarkers and fussy cut. I had to put a greeting on - one of my pet hates is cards without a greeting!

Back to the Spring cleaning...

Not Your Usual Paper...

We all have some in our stash - weird speciality paper that you have admired and stroked for years but never actually used! That's this fortnight's challenge at Shopping our Stash - use that paper.

I needed to make a card to hold a spa day gift voucher and thought that the Alyssa relaxing digi from the Digistamp Boutique was the the ideal image.

I've coloured her with promarkers and paper pieced the bath with pale aqua spotted paper. For the bubbles I've used some crinkle textured white paper which amazingly was no trouble going through my printer. My only gripe about this card is the font I've used - Cheri looked great on my last card but on this one I don't like the way it has put a tiny heart in the letter 'o' in the word 'on' - I must have used a capital for it to do this and at first glance it looks a bit like an 'e' - never mind, lesson learnt!

Off to spring clean my craft room - I shall probably find lots more weird and wonderful stuff

Birthday Tag

Looking for inspiration today I came across a new challenge at Fusion:

The idea is you use the sketch, or the photo or both! I like it. I decided to use the photo as this week's sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch had already caught my eye:

I've also entered this into the 'Birthdays' challenge at One Stop Craft Challenge and the 'Use your flowers' challenge at Clear It Out.

The polka dots were digi stamped straight onto the base card like yesterday, I cut the tag from a template and the die-cut flower is from my box of ready-made embellishments for quick cards. The greeting is computer generated (Cheri font).

Lime and Black #2

Whilst I had all of my 'lime stuff' on the dining room table I thought I might as well have another go.

This week's sponsors at Less Is More is a company called Clearly Besotted who make gorgeous stamps and dies. Now I have an unexplainable fear of stamping but I was so impressed by their background builder stamps I had to have a play with my digi stuff...

In Publisher I created a square and using the snipping tool I 'snipped' a piece from a black polka dot digi patterned paper and placed this across the side of the square. I added a text box with the word 'celebrate' and turned it on it's side placing it under the polka dot area. I also added another piece of polka dot pattern at the top of the print area. I printed this onto a sheet of A4 lime card.

I cut the card and folded it to a 13x13cm base. I then die cut a small star from the extra piece of polka dot pattern and larger stars in white and black. I matted the star and added some black ribbon under the polka dots.

I really wish I could find a stamping course to build some confidence in using stamps - I have hundreds of the things I have gotten free with magazines lying unloved in a box!

One Of A Kind

It's colour challenge week at Less Is More and the scheme chosen by Chrissie and Jen is:

LIME  & BLACK

Hmmm - lime is a colour I don't often use. I needed to make a card for a bit of an eccentric friend who loves butterflies and this is the result...

The smaller black butterflies were punched and the lime one is a die cut from subtle spotty patterned paper. I've added some green gems 'cos I fancied a bit of bling. I'm not really fond of butterflies myself - coloured moths as far as I'm concerned but I'm sure she'll love it...

CAS in Pink and Brown

Sometimes the simplest cards take the longest time to 'design' and put together! I've dithered over the layout of this card for well over an hour and there's only 4 things on it!

I was totally inspired by this week's challenge at CAS-ual Fridays - the combination of chevrons and flowers in a CAS card really got me thinking. I had various coloured chevron/zig-zag papers to choose from so with the help of the pink and brown colour challenge at Polkadoodles I eventually came up with this:

The paper came from a scrapbooking kit from Pebbles Inc and the chip board flower was a freebie topper with last month's Creative Cardmaking mag. Clean, simple and 80 minutes of my life I won't get back!

Enjoy your weekend...

Spring Pastels

Well we're still waiting for Spring to arrive in the North East - yesterday it started to snow on my way to work in Durham and this morning I had to de-ice the car!

Never mind, it doesn't stop me being inspired by the pastel shades associated with Spring and Easter - this is for a colleague at work who is celebrating a milestone birthday.

The rose is a gorgeous digi by Birdie Brown - I've printed it a few times on pink paper and the layered it for a decoupage effect. I created the numbers in Word and changed the outline to a dash rather than a continuous line to match the digi - ditto with the blue matting paper. The embossed backing sheet was done with a free butterfly and flower embossing folder that came with a magazine.

I've entered this into the following challenges:

Divas By Design - Spring Colours
Ruby's Rainbow - Happy Birthday
Simon Says Stamp - Happy Birthday
Addicted to Stamps and More -  Anything goes (CAS)
Crafting For All Seasons - Floral Delight
Crafting Creations Challenges - Flowers or fairies
