Scalloped!

Back into the craft room after a lovely break in Tenerife - it was such a shock coming back to the cold after such heat...

Todays' card was a really quick one to get me back into the swing of things - it's not the most creative card I have ever made! Inspired by this gorgeous colour combo at Color Throwdown:

and also the 'use scallops' theme at Less Is More I made this using a really old digi from Digistamp Boutique - it was one of the first I ever bought!

Framed

I love the sketch challenge this week at CAS(E) This Sketch

It also fits nicely with today's challenge at Less Is More - Frame It!

I used the gorgeous Digistamp Boutique Sketchy Flowers poppy digi again - I love it so much! I paper pieced the flower heads with a subtle yellow spotty paper and framed the image with a black frame made with nesties.

Spent the morning doing last minute holiday shopping - I can't wait to get some heat on my weary bones in Tenerife!

Catch you soon

Emma

I've been asked to make a special card for a friend's daughter (Emma) for her birthday and to get some inspiration I checked out a few challenge blogs...

As soon as I saw this week's 'inspired by a song' challenge at City Crafter I knew exactly what type of card to make...

I've printed out the name Emma on some very old Doodlebug paper, hand cut it then matted the letters on darker pink paper. I've added a few random gems and flowers, a die cut butterfly and a computer generated sentiment.

(In case you're still struggling the song is Emma by Hot Chocolate)

Good Luck

Whilst trawling the interwebby I found this lovely free script background which I have been itching to use. I also found the 4 cleaf clover online - however did we manage before the world wide web??

I've fussy cut the clover and added a computer generated sentiment using Freehand575 BT font. I had to take the photo in the garden as the light here is so bad today.

I've entered this card into the following challenges:

Addicted to Stamps and More - CAS
Simply Create Too - St Patrick's day or green
Stampin' Royalty - CAS
Digi Haven - the theme is green
Simon Says Stamp - a bit o' green
Gingerloft Challenge - the colour green

Colour Blocking

My second card of the day is a different style altogether - inspired by the colour block challenge at CAS-ual Fridays and the use a punch/die-cuts challenges at Totally Papercrafts and Party Time Tuesdays I came up with this...

Very simple but straight to the point - I'm pleased with the graphic design feel to it.

Must go off and do the boring stuff now like washing and cooking...

Catch you later

One Layer Spots and Stripes

This was never going to be an easy one - it's one layer week at Less Is More and the added challenge is to use spots and stripes!

This was the only digi I could find incorporating both spots and stripes. It's an oldie from TLC - a great site for freebies, especially vintage images and word art. I've coloured it with pro-markers and used 300gsm linen card so there is no 'seepage' - if that is a real word. The sentiment is a quote I found by simply googling 'kite quotes' - as for most things Google is your friend.

Paper Pieced Flowers

Here's my final Mother's Day card of the year - made using the build a flower set from the Digistamp Boutique (I should have shares in that place!)

I paper pieced the flowers using some lovely papers from the Serendipity range from Hot Off The Press. In real life that pink spotty paper is so bright! I've used the palest pink Card Candi for the middle of the flowers and finished off with a computer generated sentiment.

I've entered this card into today's challenges at:

Crafty Sentiments Designs - Pretty in Pink
Cuttin and Stampin Challenges - use flowers
In The Pink Challenge - Floral/Mother's Day and lots of pink

Learning Curve

I have a huge pile of cream coloured card - I got it free so it seems a shame not to use it, the only thing is it has a bit of a sheen to it. Not a pearlised sheen, more of a 'suck the colour out of pro-markers' type of sheen!

I'm still loving the Mother's Day bouquet image from the Digistamp Boutique and I actually used quite bright colours when colouring this image but they've ended up as pastels. Never mind - part of life's learning curve.

I've also now learnt the difference between hexagons and octagons - doh!! As you can see I bought octagons instead of hexagons... still it's a pretty shape.

Hopefully I can link this card up correctly to the challenges I am entering it into:

Papertake Weekly - Anything Goes (option of Mother's Day card)
Songbird Challenge - Mama, I Love You

Anniversary Love Birds

My second post today - I love being off work during the week - you can get so much done! There's a gorgeous colour challenge this week at Less Is More  those doughnuts look yummy!

I needed to make a card for a colleague at work and thought it would be perfect in this colour scheme

This super cute digi is by Jenni Hamilton available from here.  I've coloured it with promarkers and decoupaged it - a little admission - only because the cat knocked me when I was colouring the original layer!! I think the card looks cuter for the extra layer though.

I've also entered this card into this week's challenges at:

The ABC Challenge - I For In Love
Totally Papercrafts - Love Is In The Air

Shades of Pink

Today's card is a commission for a pink, girly card for a young at heart 60 year old. I used the gorgeous diva doodles digis from Pink Petticoat, paper pieced with pink polka dot paper. Paper roses have been used on the shoes and a flat backed pink pearl on the handbag.

The card blank I've used is 8x8 - I really enjoy making cards this size - they make such an impact.

I've entered this card into the challenges at:

City Crafter Challenge - shades of pink
Totally Gorjuss - anything goes with pink
The Crafting Cafe - favourite colour (pink!!)
Moving Along With The Times - Lovely Ladies

More Flowers For Mother's Day

I'm really enjoying playing with these gorgeous Sketchy Flower digis from The Digistamp Boutique - they are great to colour but even better to paper piece...

The papers are by Hot Off The Press and came free with a magazine - the red mottled effect paper is perfect for these poppies.

I've entered this card into the following challenges:

One Stop Craft Challenge - Mother's Day
Allsorts Challenge Blog - For a Lady
Glitter 'n' Sparkle Challenge Blog - Mother's Day
